Juvenile Trial Watch – Randwick, Doomben

Tara Madgwick - Friday October 28

Juvenile trials at Randwick on Friday and Doomben on Thursday produced some interesting winners with two heat winners for Trapeze Artist, a blue-blood I Am Invincible quinella and the first look at Isotope’s half-sister has us wanting to see more of her!

The Tony Gollan trained Spirit of Boom filly Mighty has a bit to live up to as a half-sister to the stable star Isotope, but looks to have a good deal of her own ability.

Bred and sold by Daandine Stud as was Golden Slipper winner Capitalist, Mighty is a half-sister to stakes-winner Isotope and is the fourth foal from Great Dansaar, a half-sister to dual Group I winner Yankee Rose and Group III winner Miravalle.

Great Dansaar died earlier this year and her last foal is a yearling colt by Isotope’s sire Deep Field.

I Am Invincible quinella in this 1050m heat at Randwick with the Richard and Will Freedman trained colt Misty Legend looking good at his second trial to push forward and hold the fence and the lead before kicking clear of I Am Invincible filly Mathkhoora, a daughter of Golden Slipper winner Mossfun.

The runner-up is a homebred for Emirates Park, but the winner Misty Legend was a $700,000 Magic Millions purchase for Bon Ho’s Legend Racing from the Three Bridges Thoroughbreds draft and is from Group II winning Redoute’s Choice mare Into the Mist, whose dam is Group II winning Encosta de Lago mare De Lago Mist.

Misty Legend was a $700,000 Magic Millions purchase.

There is a lot to like about this colt on type and pedigree.

Widden Stud’s Trapeze Artist had the first of his two heat winners when the Bjorn Baker trained colt Disneck finished hard to score a neck win in the quickest of three heats for 2YO’s at 740m.

Bred by Phoenix Thoroughbreds, Disneck was a $200,000 Inglis Classic purchase and has a prominent baldy face like his sire and is from a speedy imported stakes-winner in Lindisfarne (USA), a half-sister by City Zip to Group I placed stakes-winner Flora Dora.

A pair of Trapeze Artist fillies, both with baldy faces, fought out the finish here with the Michael Freedman trained  Allaboutella edging out Annabel Neasham’s Greatestofease despite racing pretty greenly when she got to the front.

Allaboutella runs for Iskander Racing and Suman Hedge and was snapped up by the latter from Inglis Classic for $430,000 making her the most expensive yearling by her sire at that sale.

Bred by Phoenix Thoroughbreds, she is the first living foal from Group III winning juvenile Zelady’s Night Out, a half-sister by Myboycharlie (IRE) to Group III winner Excites Zelady.
