Sire Table Shake Up Looms

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday October 26

As sire of this year’s Everest winner Giga Kick, Scissor Kick shot to the top of the Australian General Sires List, but his reign at number one may be short lived with big money racing this Saturday and the $10million Golden Eagle in particular having the potential to bring a major reshuffle.

Anamoe's sire Street Boss sits in second place and has a Golden Eagle runner in Pinstriped, while Snitzel looks very well placed to challenge with two good runners in Ine the Congo, who drew ideally in gate four and Mr Mozart, who loves the trip but has drawn wide in 23.

Snitzel has two Golden Eagle runners - In the Congo and Mr Mozart.

Zoustar has been enjoying his best ever season and has Lightsaber in the Golden Eagle, a race in which his champion daughter Sunlight finished second in 2019 to Kolding.

Sitting inside the Top 10 general sires list, comeback king Astern is currently leading the third season sires division ahead of Maurice (Jpn), Capitalist and Shalaa (IRE).

He too has a Golden Eagle runner in Brigantine as does Shalaa, who is the sire of the Chris Waller trained import Welwal (IRE).

Champion New Zealand sire Savabeel has $2.3million seasonal earnings, but could be poised for a big rush up the list with Golden Eagle runner I Wish I Win and also one of the Victoria Derby favourites Mr Maestro.
