My Whisper Makes It a Group Double for Frankel on Cox Plate Day

If you backed Frankel to be the leading sire of winners on Cox Plate Day at Moonee Valley, join the winner’s queue as the Juddmonte superstar made it a stakes double when Yulong Stud’s My Whisper captured the Powerflo Solutions Tesio Stakes (1600m).

Earlier in the day, the Frankel gelding Francesco Guardi (IRE) was a brilliant winner of the Moonee Valley Gold Cup.

Ridden by Tim Clark for Peter and Paul Snowden, My Whisper defeated Roots (Press Statement) by a neck, with Sirileo Miss (Pride Of Dubai) one and a half lengths back in third.

The winner of the Group III Auraria Stakes (1800m) at Morphettville in April, My Whisper advances her record to five wins and a third from nine starts with earnings of $323,345.

“It’s good to see her back in form,” stable representative Andrew Angelone said.

  “I know she likes the Melbourne way of going and she got trapped wide, but she settled well, had cover and you could see around the turn that she had a lot to offer but it was really good to see her hit the line so strong.

“She’s got a lot of fight in her. A lot of guts. The harder the run, the tougher she is.

Tim Clark also said My Whisper is happier this way of going.

“Looking through her form. All her best form is down here and slots straight back into the Snowden system here. They were quietly confident of coming here today, Clark said.

“She tracked a little bit wide, but that’s not too much of a disadvantage today. I think the track has dried out throughout the day and obviously the rain stopped earlier. It’s a beautiful day.

“Being out there she found soft ground and a really strong performance. She covered a bit of ground and made an early move but she was strong all the way to the line.

Passed in short of her $300,000 at round two of the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, the daughter of Frankel is the first foal of the Poet’s Voice mare Hersigh (GB).

A Godolphin homebred, Hersigh won races on the all-weather at Chelmsford and Lingfield in an eight-start career.

A half-sister to Listed stakes-winner Ennaadd (King’s Best), Hersigh is out of the stakes-winning Singspiel mare Zayn Zed whose dam Roshani is a three-quarter sister to the champion Oh So Sharp.

Consigned to the 2017 Tattersalls August Sale, Hersigh (GB) was purchased by BBA Ireland for £52,000.

After missing to Grunt in 2020, Hersigh (GB) foaled a Lucky Vega (IRE) filly on August 29.
