Saturday Juvenile Racing Sale Mail

Tara Madgwick - Thursday October 20

Juvenile racing in Sydney and Melbourne on Saturday holds interest with just seven runners to contest the $500,000 Inglis Banner at Moonee Valley and the $150,000 Kirkham Plate at Randwick will feature five runners from the powerful Godolphin stable.

There are three runners by Golden Slipper winning sire Capitalist in the Inglis Banner with dual acceptor Mexico scratched from Sydney in preference to the Melbourne race.

All runners are unraced and only two have trialled in public with Mexico placing in a Sydney trial and Count Your Pennies winning at Cranbourne back at the start of September.

First season sire Harry Angel (IRE) gets the chance to make a splash with the Lindsay Park team saddling Arkansaw Kid, a $190,000 Inglis Classic purchase from Exceed and Excel mare Florabella, a half-sister to Group I winner Shinzig from Group I winner Shindig.

The Kirkham Plate was won last year by Godolphin with slick filly Ojai, who was competitive throughout her juvenile season and finished fifth in the Golden Slipper.

They will take some beating again this year with five runners and the blue army includes Stanislaus, the half-brother to Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas winner Golden Mile and Faberge, the full sister to triple Group I winner Bivouac.

In a race packed with intrigue we will also get to see Coincide, the half-brother by Invader to dual Group I winner Converge and Kintyre, the half-brother by Hallowed Crown to Golden Slipper winner Fireburn
