Media Release - Monday October 17

Kiwi-breds have again been making their presence felt in Australia over the past week with some exciting three year-olds stepping up for stakes wins on their way to Group I goals later in the spring and their sires are represented at the NZB Ready to Run Sale on November 16 and 17.

Quality sire Reliable Man (GB) has already sired two Group I Oaks winners and may have a third in the pipeline with Renaissance Woman (NZ) staking her claim with a bold win in the Group III MRC Ethereal Stakes (2000m) at Caulfield.

Reliable Man has a big draft of 13 to be offered by a variety of vendors and they include:

Lot 246 is a grey filly from Westbury Stud and is from Room to Rock, a grand-daughter of Champion Australian 3YO Filly Private Steer. She is bred on the same cross as Renaissance Woman, who is also from a daughter of Fastnet Rock, this nick producing four winners from five runners and interestingly three of those winners are Black Type horses with Renaissance Woman joining G3 winner De La Terre and the G1 placed filly Aalaalune.

Set to chase Group I glory this Saturday in the ATC Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) at Randwick, Sharp ‘n’ Smart (NZ) showed his credentials winning the Group III ATC Gloaming Stakes (1600m) last week.

He was bred and sold by Gerry Harvey’s Westbury Stud and they have 13 two year-olds catalogued by his sire Redwood (GB) with highlights below:

Lot 20 is the half-brother to talented sprinter Norwegian Bliss, who was retained by Gerry Harvey and has won six from six in Australia and is trained by Nathan Doyle.

Lot 56 is a grey colt from Group II winner Chinchilla Rose, the dam of three winners headed by stakes-placed Rendition.

Lot 68 is a half-brother to stakes-winner Absalon from Danish Seaway, whose daughter Queen Margaret is the dam of Sharp  ‘n’ Smart, so this colt is a three-quarter brother-in-blood to the rising star 3YO.

There is only one entry by Satono Aladdin and it’s Lot 236, a colt from Red Magnolia, an unraced Red Ransom (USA) mare from the family of Group I winner and $2.7 million earner Royal Descent.
