Pedigree Potential – Ready to Run

An avalanche of Kiwi-bred success in Australia last Saturday is going to have plenty of people pondering their next foray into the Kiwi market and they don’t have to wait long.

The NZB Ready to Run Sale on November 16 and 17 is packed with opportunity and two key sires doing a great job with their Aussie runners are Turn Me Loose, the sire of Group II VRC Edward Manifold Stakes winner She’s Licketysplit and Per Incanto (USA), the sire of Group II ATC Premiere Stakes winner and Everest contender Lost and Running.

A triple Group I-winning sprinter miler by Ifraaj (GB), Windsor Park Stud's Turn Me Loose has achieved some impressive results with his oldest progeny just turned four and has sired five stakes-winners, three of them in Australia, so he has 12% stakes-winners to runners in Australia.

He has five lots on offer at the Ready to Run and all are colts and geldings with highlights below:

Lot 144 from Riverrock Farm is a colt from Group II-winning Savabeel mare Lady Kipling, who has done a fine job at stud. She is the dam of four winners headed by Group II winner Fascino and stakes-placed Favreau.

Lot 121 from Ohukia Lodge is a colt, the first foal from Inspire Me, an unraced half-sister by Epsom Derby winner Pour Moi (IRE) to Group I winner Inspirational Girl, stakes-winner Ruettiger and Group III placed Brookspire.

Litte Avondale Stud based Per Incanto is another Kiwi based sire that has enjoyed significant success in Australia with his speed horses that include not only Lost and Running, but also Group I VRC Newmarket Handicap winner Roch ‘n’ Horse, who returned to form on Saturday with a second in the Group II VRC Gilgai Stakes.

Per Incanto has a dozen entries for the sale with highlights below:

Lot 90 a colt from Kilgravin Lodge that is the third foal of Group III-winning Stravinsky (USA) mare Fleur de Lune.

Lot 163 a colt from Kilgravin Lodge that is the third foal of fast stakes-winning Falkirk mare Makkura.

Lot 173 from Riversley Park is an interesting one coming from the family of world champion racehorse Winx, who is by Per Incanto’s sire Street Cry. He is the fourth foal from Miss Bluebell, who is by Savabeel, a sire that has a great affinity with Per Incanto. His daughters have produced nine winners by Per Incanto from 12 runners, three of them stakes-winners, so 25% SW to runner.

Lot 253 from Kilgravin Lodge is a three-quarter brother-in-blood to Group III winner Belucci Babe from Savanna.

NZB made the decision to postpone its Breeze Ups for the 2022 Ready to Run Sale, with the revised contingency dates being held on Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 October at Te Rapa Racecourse.

Breeze Up clips will available to watch on nzb.co.nz by Friday 21 October.
