Pakistan Star refusing to race in the Premier Plate

The Tony Cruz-trained Pakistan Star was stood down from racing and had to barrier trial successfully twice after pulling himself up in the Group III Premier Plate in June as the $1.20 favourite.

Pakistan Star completed a 1200m trial but in the eighth heat over 1600m at Sha Tin on Tuesday failed to respond to Joao Moreira's urgings after 200m and refused to chase.

The four-year-old consented to run as the field approached the home turn but finished the trial in 2:02.60, some 22 seconds behind the second last horse to finish.

Pakistan Star became an instant cult hero when coming from a clear last to win going away on debut in July 2016.
