Blue-Blood Gives Cummings and Godolphin 1000th Winner

Tara Madgwick - Saturday September 24

My how time flies, James Cummings saddled his 1000th winner for Godolphin when blue-blood 3YO Pericles scored on debut at Newcastle on Saturday.

A three year-old half-brother by Street Boss (USA) to multiple Group I winners Epaulette and Helmet, Pericles pressed forward to lead in the 1400m maiden and when challenged fought on doggedly to win by a nose.

Pericles is the fifth winner from six foals to race from blue hen Accessories (GB), who is also the dam of Group winners Pearls and Bullbars in addition to her Group I winning sire sons Epaulette and Helmet.

Accessories is now 19 and has a yearling colt by Microphone, but will have no foal this year after missing to Bivouac.
