One to Watch – Swan Hill

Tara Madgwick - Friday September 9

Toronado (IRE) is poised to cover another outstanding book of mares at Swettenham Stud this spring at the increased fee of $88,000 and he also gave us a promising debut winner on Friday.

Trained by the Lindsay Park team., three year-old colt Angry Skies was dispatched to Swan Hill for a 1200m maiden and bolted straight past the hot favourite trained by the Maher and Eustace stable.

He kicked away to win by nearly two lengths over Valiancy in an eye-catching display.

Winning rider Blaike McDougall was full of praise.

“He didn’t begin flash so I just let him find his feet and get into a rhythm and get comfortable,”said McDougall.

“When he got some daylight he really let rip.”

Withdrawn from Inglis Classic, the Dorrington Farm bred colt is the first winner from stakes-placed Astronomer Royal mare Iteration (Fr) , a half-sister to the dams of Group I winner Alterite and stakes-winner Yuman.

Iteration has a yearling filly by Written Tycoon and was covered last spring by Magnus.
