Blueblood Zoustar Colt Opens Account

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday August 31

Impressive at the barrier trials, exciting Zoustar colt Scientist opened his race day account with a bold front running win at Warwick Farm on Wednesday to credit his dual Group I winning dam Global Glamour with her first winner.

Trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Scientist was third on debut at Canterbury two weeks ago and took good improvement from that outing.

Stepped up to 1400m, he was ridden forward by Tim Clark and led all the way, repelling a challenge from Redoute’s Choice colt Rediener to win by the best part of a length.

Scientist is entered for the Group I MRC Caulfield Guineas, although Adrian Bott is in no hurry to rush the talented colt.

“It was a fantastic effort and he was really tough,” said Bott.

“He rolled forward from that outside draw and showed good speed to take it up and the pressure came on quite early, so full credit to the horse as he stuck on very well.

“He was there to be beaten, but picked himself up and was strong late.

“I’m not sure how much farther we will push on this campaign, but he’s going to be a nice horse for us in the autumn. We’ll see how he pulls up.”

Scientist was a $600,000 Magic Millions purchase.

A $600,000 Magic Millions purchase for his trainers from the Coolmore draft, Scientist runs for Coolmore and partners and is the first foal of former outstanding Star Witness filly Global Glamour, who won both the Group I ATC Flight Stakes and MRC Thousand Guineas for the Waterhouse Bott partnership.

Global Glamour was bought for $1.55million at the 2019 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale by Coolmore/Gerry Harvey/James Bester and her second foal, a filly by Justify (UA) sold for $900,000 at Magic Millions this year to Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott/Kestrel Thoroughbreds.
