One to Watch – Wagga

Tara Madgwick - Thursday August 25

It’s been two smart winners in two days for Churchill (IRE) with astute trainer Tim Martin getting the cash with a short priced favourite at Wagga on Thursday.

Miss Thatcher was a close fifth on debut at Kembla earlier this month and made amends with a dominant two and a half length win in the 1200m maiden.

She dashed clear to win with authority and her trainer is tipping more wins are in store.

Miss Thatcher was a modest $20,000 Inglis HTBA Yearling Sale purchase from the Kirks Bridge Farm draft and is the fourth winner from four foals to race from Alberton Waltz, a half-sister by Testa Rossa to Cavalry Rose.

Churchill (IRE)

A champion miler by Galileo, Churchill has already tasted Group I success as a sire through his top class Northern Hemisphere bred 3YO colt Vadeni and stands at a fee of $22,000 this spring.

His quality Australian colt Conqueror is set to take his place in the Group III ATC Up and Coming Stakes this Saturday.
