One to Watch – Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday August 24

He was a ‘One to Watch’ when breaking his maiden at Kembla earlier this month and is ‘One to Watch’ again after making a swift transition to metro class with another dominant win at Randwick on Wednesday.

A patient approach looks like paying dividends for the half-brother by Hinchinbrook to former star mare Greysful Glamour.

Trained by Chris Waller, four year-old gelding Arnold was having just his third start in the Benchmark 72 event over 1400m and gave James McDonald an easy ride, travelling off the pace and forging clear to win by two lengths as a short priced favourite.

With two wins and a second from three starts, Arnold has it all ahead of him this spring with the Group I ATC Epsom Handicap (1600m) a possible goal if he makes a rapid rise through the grades.

Arnold as a yearling.

A $280,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Yes Bloodstock (B Sokolski / M Scown) from the Edinglassie Stud draft, Arnold was bred by Stuart Hume and is the fourth winner from four foals to race from terrific producer Rippled (GB).

She is best known as the dam of multiple Group winner and Group I VRC Oaks runner up Greysful Glamour, who sold as a broodmare prospect for $1.5million at Magic Millions last year, as well as Group II placed Celestial Falls, a full sister to Arnold being by his sire Hinchinbook.

Greysful Glamour and Celestial Falls are both expecting their first foals this spring and both were covered by Written Tycoon last year.
