One to Watch – Kembla

Tara Madgwick - Thursday August 4

A patient approach looks like paying dividends for the half-brother by Hinchinbrook to former star mare Greysful Glamour who broke his maiden at Kembla on Thursday with a resounding win.

Trained by Chris Waller, four year-old Hinchinbrook gelding Arnold was having just his second race start following a good debut second at Warwick Farm last December.

He gave James McDonald an easy ride, travelling off the pace and forging clear to win the 1400m maiden by nearly three lengths as a short priced favourite.

A $280,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Yes Bloodstock (B Sokolski / M Scown) from the Edinglassie Stud draft, Arnold was bred by Stuart Hume and is the fourth winner from four foals to race from terrific producer Rippled (GB).

Arnold was a big strapping yearling that has grown into an impressive individual.

She is best known as the dam of multiple Group winner and Group I VRC Oaks runner up Greysful Glamour, who sold as a broodmare prospect for $1.5million at Magic Millions last year, as well as Group II placed Celestial Falls, a full sister to Arnold being by his sire Hinchinbook.

Greysful Glamour and Celestial Falls are both expecting their first foals this spring and both were covered by Written Tycoon last year.
