Racing Victoria chief handicapper Greg Carpenter has issued a 1kg penalty, taking Foundry to 51kg in both the Caulfield Cup on October 21 and the Melbourne Cup on November on November 7.

Foundry was winning for the first time in 1323 days and is now 44th in order of entry for the Caulfield Cup and 60th in order of entry for the Melbourne Cup.

"Foundry defeated Big Duke (55kg) by 0.5 lengths with 4.5kg less weight. The 1kg penalty now takes him to within 2.5kg of Big Duke in the handicap for both the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups." Carpenter said in a statement.
