Think He’s Got Something!

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday August 16

So You Think gave us an eye-catching One to Watch winner last month in the shape of Think About It and the four year-old gelding  made it two impressive wins in as many starts when scoring easily at Wyong on Tuesday.

Trained by Joe Pride, the Proven Thoroughbreds colour bearer again travelled nicely back in the field for Rory Hutchings and let down with a big finish to surge away and win the 1350m Class One event by a soft length and a half.

“He’s a very smart horse and nowhere near physically the finished article yet,” said Joe Pride, who compared Think About It to a couple of his stable stars Private Eye and Stockman.

“When he has a spell and puts some weight on he’s going to be really impressive. He’s four, but really just a baby… I could put him out now, but he’s really thriving, so it’s a good problem to have.

“Proven Thoroughbreds have had a lot of success with their value yearling purchases and he is by a world class sire.”

Think About It was a modest $70,000 Inglis Premier purchase.

A $70,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Proven Thoroughbreds / Joe Pride Racing from the Newgate Farm draft, Think It Over was bred by Lightning Thoroughbreds and foaled and raised at Newgate.

He is a half-brother to metro winner Private Cheetah and is the second winner from Tiare, a winning half-sister by Flying Spur to Group II winning sprinter Keen Array.

His grand-dam is by Zabeel and the family features two Group I winners in Hong Kong in The Duke and Sky Field, so there is plenty of quality on the page and So You Think has produced Group I winners from daughters of both Flying Spur and Zabeel.

Tiare was sold through the Newgate Consignment at the 2021 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for $150,000 to Tasmania based Grenville Stud and she produced a Pierro colt for them last spring.
