Stakes Goals for Written Tycoon's She's Pretty Rich

Mark Smith - Sunday August 14

After two starts in Group III company, the Matthew Brown-trained filly She’s Pretty Rich took a step back to a maiden at Bendigo on Sunday to open her winning account.

Ridden by Patrick Moloney, the grey daughter of Written Tycoon was made to work for her win by the Rich Enuff debutant Enuffon before edging clear by three-quarter of a length.

The pair of three-year-old fillies drew five lengths clear of the 4yo Kuroshio gelding One Lucky Kid in third.

She’s Pretty Rich debuted with a fourth to See You In Heaven in the Group III Ottawa Stakes at Flemington last spring.

She resumed with a ninth in the Group III TBV Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes at Flemington in March.

“That’s what we came to see, but to the second horse’s credit, for a first-starter, she showed a lot of fight and might have been a bit stiff in running in to this filly today,” Matthew Brown said.

“We have high expectations for her after throwing her in the deep end early days.

“Hopefully that is the start of a nice preparation.

“She holds a Thousand Guineas nomination. That is what we identified early as the race for her. We have a long way to go to get there.

“There is another nice race for her down the straight at Flemington in three or four weeks. So, we will probably head there.

“She has got the maiden on the board now, and obviously black-type is the key with the pedigree she has.”

Bred and offered for sale by Rothwell Park, She’s Pretty Rich was a $70,000 purchase by her trainer at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast National Weanling Sale.

She is the second winner from as many foals of the Snitzel mare Pretty Snitzel.

A $60,000 purchase for Rathmore Bloodstock at the 2022 National Broodmare Sale,  Pretty Snitzel is a half-sister to Whisky Baron (Manhattan Rain), the Champion Middle Distance Horse in South Africa in 2016-17.

The Group 1 Kenilworth Sun Met Hcp highlighted Whisky Baron's six wins.

MKT Thoroughbreds/Pinhook Bloodstock (FBAA) shelled out $23,000 for Pretty Snitzel’s Pride Of Dubai filly at the 2022 National Yearling Sale.

Pretty Snitzel was carrying a positive test to Pierata at the time of her sale.
