Spirit Of Boom's Spiritualised Earns a Trip South

Mark Smith - Saturday August 6

Promising Spirit Of Boom colt Spiritualised may have earned a trip to Melbourne for the Group III HDF McNeil Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on August 27 after an all-the-way victory in Saturday's Droughtmaster 60th Anniversary Hcp (1200m) at Doomben.

Ridden by James Orman for Tony Gollan, Spiritualised was never in any danger in the five-horse field, defeating Demon Delivera (Deep Field) by a length with Hang Five (Astern) a long-neck further back in third.

After breaking his maiden with a three-length romp at the Sunshine Coast on June 19, Spiritualised was nosed out by his talented stablemate Honey Pot at his most recent start at Eagle Farm.

Gollan said he is keen to take the son of Spirit Of Boom to Melbourne for his next start.

“I thought he quickened quite well and put them away,” Gollan said.

“He still tends to think about things and wandered around a bit. That was evident at Eagle Farm and was evident again late there, although he had the race in his keeping from a long way out.

“Twelve hundred metres might be at the edge of his trip at the moment.

“There is a race at Caulfield in three weeks for him if I am happy with him.

“I think a trip away in a different environment might bring him on. “They get a little comfortable at home these sought of horses. He is very dominant at home on the track, and he is doing that at the races now, which I am pleased to see.

“We will see what happens with him over the next few days how he pulls up.

“It is nice to get a metropolitan win with him for a big team of owners that have put a lot of money in to these Spirit Of Boom horses and it’s good to get something back.”

Spiritualised a $575,000 Magic Millions Yearling

The highest-priced yearling by his sire, Spiritualised was bought by Gollan Racing/John Foote Bloodstock for $575,000 from the Musk Creek Farm draft at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale,

He is the first foal of the talented Snitzel mare Personalised, who won four of six starts for Michael Costa, with three coming at the Sunshine Coast.

Musk Creek Farm/Boomer Bloodstock (FBAA) went to $525,000 to secure Personalised at the 2019 National Broodmare Sale when carrying Spiritualised.

Following the $575,000 return for the son of Spirit Of Boom, Musk Cree Farm’s Dundeel colt out of Personalised was knocked down to M Laurie / ARJB Racing for $525,000 at the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale.

Personalised is a half-sister to Group 1 VRC Oaks heroine Personal (Fastnet Rock) and stakes-placed Trope (More Than Ready) and a three-quarter sister to stakes-placegetters Selectify (Redoute’s Choice) and Laser Flash (Redoute’s Choice).

From the famed family of blue hen Procrastinate, Personalised has a weanling Zoustar filly but missed to Written Tycoon last spring.
