Potential Spring Stars - Trial Watch

Tara Madgwick - Friday August 5

Warwick Farm was the scene of barrier trial action on Friday morning with Cox Plate contenders contesting the first heat of the day, while a little later we had a good look at an Everest contender along with some smart three year-olds.

Anamoe could easily have gone to stud this spring, but Godolphin have elected to keep the Street Boss (USA) colt going for another season and it may well be his best.

A Group I winner at two and three, Anamoe looks primed for more success this season.

Spritely 9YO Eduardo looked sharp and bright in his first trial this preparation and for a horse of his age has had very light racing given he did not start racing until he was four so there is every reason to be confident he has more wins in store.

These three year-olds ran quicker time than Eduardo with the winner Acapella Sun ending her last prep with a fourth in the Listed Woodlands Stakes at Scone won by undefeated I Am Invincible filly In Secret, who finished a soft third in this heat.

Splitting the fillies was Group II winning Pariah colt Swiss Exile, who was full of running, and in fourth place exciting Maurice (Jpn) colt Foujita San, last seen winning by five lengths at Sandown in April.

Unraced Russian Revolution gelding Overthrown was having his first trial on the grass following two good efforts on synthetic and won by a space. Trained by Annabel Neasham, Ovethrow was in a differen post code to his rivals.

A $100,000 Inglis Classic purchase from the Newgate Farm draft for Matt Vella, Overthrow is the second foal of brilliant Group II MRC Schillaci stakes winner Alpha Miss, so is certainly bred for speed.

Overthrow was a $100,000 Inglis Classic yearling.
