First Foal for Golden Slipper Winner Farnan

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday August 2

Kia Ora Stud moved into the business of standing stallions last year with Golden Slipper winner Farnan, a high profile choice as a foundation sire and his first foal has delighted Kia Ora Bloodstock and Breeding Manager Shane Wright.

Imported Group III winner Insta Erma (USA) was among the first of 192 mares covered last spring by Farnan and is the dam of the first foal born at Kia Ora this spring, a quality bay colt.

“It’s only fitting our first foal of the season is by our Champion 2YO Farnan. He’s a great type, good size, lots of scope, clean-limbed and just so athletic, I’m absolutely wrapped with him,” said Shane Wright.

Insta Erma was bought by Kia Ora last year from the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for $800,000 and is one of a bevy of stakes-winning and stakes producing mares that will foal to Golden Slipper winner Farnan this spring.

By Not a Single Doubt from a daughter of Street Cry (IRE), Farnan has pedigree to back up his performance as Champion 2YO Colt and stands at a fee of $55,000 this spring.
