Smart Kiwi Sired 2YO’s Quinella at Wyong

Tara Madgwick - Thursday July 28

A couple of promising youngsters by Savabeel and Almanzor (Fr) fought out the finish of the juvenile maiden at Wyong on Thursday and both gave the promise of better things to come.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Major Beel had the benefit of race experience with a debut third placing at Goulburn earlier this month.

He raced forward for Tim Clark and scored by more than a length in the 1300m contest over eye-catching Chris Waller trained colt Manzoice, who finished full of running on debut.

Bred and sold by Waikato Stud, Major Beel was snapped up by Gai Waterhouse/Adrian Bott/Kestrel Thoroughbreds for $260,000 for their Magic Millions draft and is a three-quarter brother-in-blood to Group II winner Gold Fever and is the first winner for unraced O’Reilly mare Gram.

Major Beel was bred and sold by Waikato Stud.

The runner-up Manzoice is a big strapping colt with a real presence in the mounting yard. He was a $340,000 Magic Millions purchase for Waller Racing/Mulcaster Bloodstock from the Bhoma Thoroughbreds draft and is the second foal from Group III winning Mastercraftsman (IRE) mare Choice.

Manzoice was a $340,000 Magic Millions purchase.

Both youngsters would be well worth following into their classic season and adding to the Black Book.
