New French Stakes-Winner for Toronado

Tara Madgwick - Friday July 22

Swettenham Stud’s super popular shuttler Toronado (IRE) added a new stakes-winner to his tally in France on Thursday when promising filly Jouza won the Listed Prix Madame Jean Couturie (2000m) at Vichy.

Trained by Henri-Francois Devin, the three year-old scored a dominant two length win and has now won three of six starts.

A homebred for Al Shaqab Racing, Jouza is the best of three winners from Rasmiya, a winning sibling by Galileo to Group winners Above Average and Sent from Heaven as well as stakes-winner Freyja.

She is the 26th stakes-winner for Toronado, who returns to Victoria this spring at a fee of $88,000.

His progeny fared well at the elite sales with three sold at Inglis Easter averaging $510,000 and four sold at Magic Millions averaging $322,500.
