One to Watch – Scone

Deep Field posted his 15th 2YO winner of the season at Scone on Friday and he did it with an impressive debut winner bred and retained to race by Kia Ora Stud.

The Stephen Jones trained Custo showed plenty of natural brilliance to win the 900m maiden by three lengths over older rivals and looks to have a bright future.

Custo is a half-brother to stakes-winner Candika and is the third winner from Divya, a winning Danzero half-sister to Group II winner Astrodame and to the dam of Group winners Ulmann and Mahisara.

Divya was one of 95 mares covered last spring by Kia Ora Stud’s promising young sire Prague.

Newgate Farm's Deep Field is the Champion HK Sire for 2021/2022 and has also sired 15 2YO winners in Australia.
