First Win for Blazing Miss Sister

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday June 29

Sizzling might not be the height of fashion as a sire these days, but he figured at Randwick on Wednesday when his well bred 2YO filly What’s Going On opened her account for the Annabel Neasham stable.

A good third on debut at Randwick earlier this month, What’s Going On was favourite for the 1150m fillies maiden and chased home hard to nail I Am Invincible first starter I am Jade to win by half a length at her second start.

Retained to race by her breeders, who include Duncan Grimley, What’s Going On looks to have a bright future following the footsteps of her six other winning siblings that include stakes-placed performers Blazing Miss and Tristate.

“I’d like to thank Duncan Grimley for sending her down to us and she has a great ownership group,” said Annabel Neasham.

“She’s always shown good ability and has still got plenty of maturing to do.”

What’s Going On is very similar in type and appearance to her full sister Blazing Miss, who was Group III placed and won six races earning over $460,000 in prizemoney.

What’s Going On is the seventh winner from seven foals to race from terrific producer Jahre, a winning Encosta de Lago grand-daughter of blue hen Procrastinate, the dam of five stakes-winners headed by multiple Group I winning Champion South African Filly Laisserfaire.

The family has been making news this season as What’s Going On is also a half-sister to slick juvenile Miss Amajardan, who has found fame and fortune as the dam of outstanding 2YO colt Sejardan, winner of the Group II ATC Todman Stakes.

Jahre had a Dundeel colt sell for $400,000 at Inglis Easter this year and she has a filly to follow by Castelvecchio.

Sizzling now stands at Riverdene Stud.

A Group I winning son of Snitzel, Sizzling now calls Riverdene Stud home and stands at a fee of $6,600 this spring.
