Valachi Downs Young Guns Generate Interest

Media Release - Wednesday June 29

The Valachi Downs dispersal continues this week with a quality offering of racing and young stock on plus.gavelhouse.com.

The Matamata farm’s Unreserved Young and Racing Stock Dispersal has already garnered plenty of interest, and the x-rays and video scopes for all yearlings and select other horses are now available in the New Zealand Bloodstock Online Repository.

Glory Bound is for sale.

Valachi Downs General Manager Gareth Downey said there is plenty of quality stock on offer once again, with the racing offering headlined by Group Two performer Glory Bound (lot 52).

“She is a lovely filly that has shown a huge amount of talent and toughness throughout her three-year-old career,” Downey said.

“She looks like the type of filly that will continue to improve as she matures physically.

“Hopefully there is a lot of fun instore for whoever buys her and there is good breeding residual after that.”

Downey is also excited to offer lot 18, the Ocean Park full-sister to multiple Group One winner Tofane.

“It is quite amazing in these last two sales to have sold the mother (Baggy Green for $1.75 million) of Tofane and now to be selling the full-sister of Tofane.

“She is a lovely, classy, classic-style of filly. She has been through the early education process and has given everyone involved with her a very nice feel.

“It is very excting to be offering her.”

Another filly who has already surpassed the six-figure mark is lot 21, the three-quarter sister to Group One performer Zousain.

“She has wonderful breeding residual. She is early in the education process and is a nice filly with plenty of size.”

Downey said another filly he expects to sell well is lot 23, the Almanzor filly out of Fleece.

“There is an Almanzor out of Fleece, so a half-sister to Needle And Thread and Savile Row, she is a nice filly with plenty of breeding residual.”

New Zealand Bloodstock agent Kane Jones has inspected all Lots in the sale and is happy to assist buyers who are unable to inspect the horses themselves. Kane can be contacted via kane.jones@nzb.co.nz or +64 27 274 4985.

The first lot will close at 7pm this coming Friday.
