Spirit Of Boom Trifecta at Ipswich

Mark Smith - Saturday June 18

The late-season surge of winners for Spirit Of Boom continued at Ipswich on Saturday with a 1-2-3 finish in the Sirromet Wines Bundamba Plate (1200m).

Punters put their confidence in Tony Gollan's last start Listed Bill Carter Stakes third Honey Pot, who charged home from last but fell a half-length short of the Helen Page-trained Hattusa.

It was a further long-head back to Spooky Spirit, who completed the Spirit Of Boom trifecta.

Ridden by Tiffani Brooker, Hattusa was friendless in betting despite coming off a maiden success on a heavy track at the Gold Coast on June 4.

"She has run some good races in town but was very immature last time," Page said.

"I was confident because Tiffani was impressed with her and wanted to ride her.

"The horse is foolproof, and she is a beautiful filly."

Hattusa is a $280,000 purchase for her trainer from the Newhaven Park draft at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott/Kestrel Thoroughbreds shelled out $150,000 for Hittite's Written Tycoon filly consigned by Newhaven Park to the Magic Millions in January.

Hittite has a weanling filly by Brutal and was covered by Cool Aza Beel last spring.
