One to Watch – Gosford

Tara Madgwick - Thursday June 9

Shalaa (IRE) has had a very productive season with his 2YO’s and posted a 12th juvenile winner at Gosford on Thursday with an eye-catching  debut winner from the powerful Maher and Eustace stable.

Promising colt Recommendation was the only juvenile in the 1100m open maiden and he gave his older rivals more than something to think about when he forged clear to win by a length and a half.

Recommendation was not offered at auction and is the second winner from blue-blooded import Adviso (USA), a Juddmonte Farms bred daughter of Street Cry.

Adviso is a half-sister to stakes-winner Sailing Solo from four time Group I winner Proviso, a half-sister by Dansili to Group I winner Byword and Group II winner Finche, who raced successfully in  Australia and was fourth in a Melbourne Cup.

Recommendation has the pedigree to suggest he will be much better at three and should be effective to a mile, so will be a colt to follow through the winter and beyond.
