Al Maher's Classic Uniform Not To Be Denied in Hill Stakes

Mark Smith - Saturday September 30

A front-running gem by Michael Walker earned the Gary Moore-trained Classic Uniform his second stakes success with a fighting win in Saturday's Group II Hill Stakes (1800m) at Randwick.

Winner of the Listed Parramatta Cup at Rosehill back in February, the son of Al Maher led at every call but came under siege from the in-form Embley.

It was back to back wins for Walker after claiming the Dulcify Quality on Ataraxia.

"All credit to Mr Moore, he told me to let him run at the crossing, see if we can get him some easy sectionals, which we did," Walker said.

"The horse gave me a beautiful ride. I just snuck away from them without them knowing – gees he's a tough horse."

Bred and sold by Emirates Park (now Aquis Farm) at the 2014 Australian Easter Yearling Sale for $170,000 by Glenvallen Investments, Classic Uniform advances his record to 6 wins, 8 seconds and 8 thirds from 35 starts with earnings of $653,400.

He is the third live foal of the Canny Lad mare Pyrotechnics a sister to Group II Silver Shadow Stakes winner Seika and a half-sister to Woodlands wonderful servant Sports (Zeditave) whose 15 wins included the Group I VATC Oakleigh Plate and Group I VRC Lightning Stakes.

Glenvallen Investments went back to this year's Inglis Classic Yearling Sale to claim Classic Uniform's full-brother for $75,000.

After missing to Al Maher in 2015, Pyrotechnics foaled a colt by Artie Schiller (USA) on September 3.
