New Invincible Stakes-Winner

Tara Madgwick - Saturday June 4

A three-quarter brother-in-blood to dual Group I winning filly Imperatriz, 5YO I Am Invincible gelding Vinco posted his first Black Type success when taking out the Listed BRC Spear Chief Quality (1500m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

Trained by Tony Gollan, Vinco has been a consistent campaigner and soared to new heights with this easy victory scoring by nearly two lengths.

He took his overall record to nine wins and eight placings from 36 starts with prizemoney just shy of $450,000.

"I was unsure of the seven-day back-up, but he travelled beautifully today and he's a horse that wants a bit of room when it is time to go and as the horses fanned he started to get that room and was good late.

"I just think 1500 is as far as he goes. He doesn't run a strong mile. But this 1500 is perfect for him.

"He's done a great job for the owners and the team since coming to Queensland. To win a listed race today just tops it all off."

Vinco was bred and sold by Yarraman Park.

A $400,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Yarraman Park draft for McEvoy Mitchell Racing P/L, Vinco was bred by Yarraman Park and is a half-brother to Group II placed Berimbau, the dam of this season’s two time Group I winning NZ trained 3YO filly Imperatriz.

Vinco is the last foal from winning Encosta de Lago mare Percussive, who died in 2016.

Vinco is the 79th stakes-winner for I Am Invincible and is his 16th Australian stakes-winner this season.
