Supplementary catalogue, parade schedule confirmed for Great Southern

A strong supplementary catalogue of 29 entries – including weanlings by leading sires and black type-performed broodmares carrying desirable pregnancies – has been finalised for next week’s Great Southern Sale.

An additional 15 weanlings have been added to an already strong offering, which has resulted in 392 weanlings catalogued overall.

New additions of weanlings by the likes of So You Think, Toronado, Shalaa, Brazen Beau, Harry Angel etc join initial entries by the likes of I Am Invincible, Snitzel, Written Tycoon, Street Boss, Russian Revolution, Shamus Award, Deep Field, Capitalist, Rebel Dane, Night Of Thunder, Ocean Park, Dundeel, Pierro, Shalaa, Brazen Beau, All Too Hard, Tivaci etc, as well as an in-demand crop of first season sires including Yes Yes Yes, Too Darn Hot, Exceedance, Super Seth, Pierata, Castelvecchio, Blue Point, Alabama Express, Microphone, Zousain, Dubious, D’Argento, Royal Meeting, I Am Immortal, Magna Grecia, Omaha Beach, Strasbourg, Tassort, Vino Rosso etc.

In total, 112 individual stallions are represented between the weanling catalogues.

Additional race fillies and breeding stock include G1 winner Velocitea offered in foal to Harry Angel, Stakes placed mare Namimo, The Stylist – a half sister to three Stakes horses – and Alotapride, a half sister to G2 winner Overpass.

All up there are 14 broodmares in the supplementary catalogue.

All supplementary entries will be offered on Friday June 10 – the weanlings after the select weanlings from the main catalogue and the broodmares after the last main book broodmare.

The new entries take the overall Great Southern Sale catalogue to 471, to be sold over the two days of next Thursday and Friday (June 9 and 10) at Oaklands from 10am daily.

Inspections begin this coming Monday, June 6, although some vendors have chosen to begin a day earlier on Sunday.

The Great Southern Sale has proven beneficial on multiple fronts for buyers in recent years.

To start, it has proven a happy hunting ground for those looking to find top-class racehorses of the future, with recent graduates including Montefilia, Behemoth, Sopressa, Extra Brut, Douceur, Gytrash, On The Bubbles, Lunar Fox etc.

For pinhookers, the sale has been the starting point of many lucrative trades – out of the 2021 sale alone came some outstanding pinhook results like $360,000 into $900,000, $200,000 into $500,000, $75,000 into $250,000, $25,000 into $200,000 etc.

All weanlings sold at the Great Southern Sale are eligible for the $7.55m Inglis Race Series, which features the $2m Inglis Millennium for 2YOs and the new $1m Pink Bonus Scheme.
