Tangier will be covered by Home Affairs in the spring.
Tom Magnier, who purchased the mare in conjunction with Avenue Bloodstock, was delighted to secure a piece of a famous equine family.

The daughter of Medaglia d'Oro was offered by Godolphin and is a full sister to the Group One winning sire Astern and half sister to their triple Group One winner Alizee.

"She's a lovely mare," Magnier said. "She's obviously in foal to I Am Invincible and we're delighted to get her."

"She will go to Home Affairs (in the spring). He's off to Royal Ascot next week. We've got some wonderful mares heading to him - we really want to support him."

"(Tangier) is a very good looking mare. She's a great mover and she's got tonnes of quality," Magnier added.

Managing Director of Godolphin Australia, Vin Cox was ecstatic with the final sale price and was pleased the day's top seller was heading to Coolmore.

"We are absolutely delighted," Cox reported. "Coming here you don't expect to get seven figures, our optimistic appraisals of her were towards seven figures, but to get well past it is a magnificent result."

"What we are really thrilled about is Coolmore have bought her. They'll invest in the mare and continue to invest in the mare - between the two of us hopefully we can continue to expand the family."

"It's very exciting for both sides," Cox summed up.

Earlier in the day the Group Two Hot Danish Stakes winner Reelem in Ruby provided her owners with a thrill when selling to the Tagaloa Syndicate for $950,000.

The only Group winner in the catalogue in foal to champion sire Snitzel, she was offered by Yarraman Park Stud as agent for Triple Crown Syndications.

A number of Reelem in Ruby's syndicate members were on the Gold Coast to see their star take the next step on her journey at stud.

Duais' Group winning half sister Baccarat Baby realised $900,000 when she was offered for unreserved sale later in the day. She was purchased by international bloodstock agent Dermot Farrington.

With two days of the National Broodmare Sale now complete the gross has grown to over $78.4 million on 357 lots sold at an average price of $219,696. The clearance rate sits at over 85 per cent.

"I thought it was a very genuine day's trade," Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said. "We are still clearing well over 85 per cent and the average is still very strong."

"I'm thrilled for Godolphin (with today's sale topper and strong results). They've been great supporters. They've put some quality mares and pedigrees up there and it's always good to have great success for supporters of Magic Millions."

Bowditch said the sale showed the regard the Australian industry was held around the world.

"From an international perspective, that's definitive. We've got an outstanding racing product in Australia, the stallion market's sensational here and our yearling market's been off the charts - as good as it's been."

"For breeders of Australia, this is the best offering (of mares available) in Australia, if not the world, so they should be playing a part in this quality catalogue."

"As much as I see the sale being extremely solid, there is value to be found. There's many  buyers walking out chuffed with that they've bought. The buyers who are keeping their lists long and doing the work are being rewarded."

"There's a day to go and I am really excited by tomorrow's offering," Bowditch added.
