Blue Point (IRE) (Darley), Castlelvecchio (Arrowfield), Pierata (Aquis) and Exceedance (Vinery) all made it into the Top 10 (by average, three or more sold) as you can see in the table above.

Also worth noting were Cosmic Force (Newgate) and Yes Yes Yes (Coolmore), who sat just outside the Top 10 and had averages of $101,667 (6 sold) and $99,714 (7 sold) respectively.

Let’s take a look at the top sellers for each our first season sires that sold for $130,000 or more.

Everest hero Yes Yes Yes had the equal highest price at this sale for a first season sire with his filly from Luluoru making $260,000 for Milburn Creek when bought by Suman Hedge Bloodstock (FBAA)/Redwall Bloodstock.

Microphone shared top honours when his colt from Allure made $260,000 for Vinery Stud when bought by Musk Creek Farm.

Blue Point (IRE) did best with his colt from Full Sun (GB) that made $220,000 for Three Bridges Thoroughbreds when bought by Suman Hedge Bloodstock (FBAA)/Redwall Bloodstock
.

Too Darn Hot (GB) got his best sale with Yarraman Park’s filly from Lusitania that made $220,000 when bought by Bird Rock Farm/McKeever Bloodstock.

Exceedance did best for Vinery Stud with his filly from stakes-winner Loved Up selling to Kiwi based Lansdowne Park for $200,000.

Pierata also had a $200,000 sale with his Newhaven Park consigned colt from Plastered (USA) bought by Bahen Bloodstock.

Top seller for Cosmic Force was Kingstar Farm’s colt from Coral Reef that made $190,000 when secured by Blade Racing.

The Spendthrift Dispersal delivered the best result for Omaha Beach (USA) with a filly from Hanseatic’s half-sister Skagerrak fetching $170,000 when bought by Bahen Bloodstock.

Kenmore Lodge had the top seller for Castelvecchio with a colt from Wynnstay Avenue selling to Suman Hedge Bloodstock for $160,000.

Royal Meeting (IRE) had only one weanling sell, but he was a good colt from Mistress McDowell fetching $160,000 for Silverstream Consignment when bought by Baystone Farm.

Dubious made his mark with a colt from Chit Chat making $150,000 for Kenmore Lodge when bought by Aquis Stallions.

Zousain got his best result with a colt from Melaleuca that made $130,000 for Phoenix Broodmare Farm when bought by a very good judge in Rhys Smith.

Smith purchased Zoustar as a weanling at this sale in 2011 for $85,000 under his Kulani Park banner and re-sold him as a yearling at the Gold Coast for $140,000, so if anyone can find the best Zousain to pinhook am tipping it’s Rhys.
