The Great Southern Sale has proven beneficial on multiple fronts for buyers in recent years.

Four time G1 winner Montefilia was bought at Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale for $62,000 in 2018.

To start, it has proven a happy hunting ground for those looking to find top-class racehorses of the future, with recent graduates including Montefilia, Behemoth, Sopressa, Extra Brut, Douceur, Gytrash, On The Bubbles, Lunar Fox etc.

For pinhookers, the sale has been the starting point of many lucrative trades – out of the 2021 sale alone came some outstanding pinhook results like $360,000 into $900,000, $200,000 into $500,000, $75,000 into $250,000, $25,000 into $200,000 etc.

All weanlings sold at the Great Southern Sale are eligible for the $7.55m Inglis Race Series, which features the $2m Inglis Millennium for 2YOs and the new $1m Pink Bonus Scheme.

“This year’s catalogue has all the right ingredients for buyers to enjoy success, no matter what their end goal is,’’ Inglis’ Victorian bloodstock manager James Price said.

“There is an insatiable appetite for quality stock and to that end, I think there is plenty in the catalogue for buyers to be excited about, particularly amongst the weanlings, with the catalogue featuring the only Snitzel weanling colt to be offered at public auction this year.

“There have been some fantastic stories from the sale in recent years and some life changing results, so we are looking forward to another competitive renewal of the sale.’’

Supplementary entries for the Great Southern Sale will be accepted until 5pm on Wednesday June 1.
