First Winner for Harry Angel

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday May 10

The first son of Dark Angel to shuttle to Australia, Darley’s Harry Angel (IRE) broke the ice overnight to post his first winner with Vicious Harry saluting at Chantilly and interestingly he is from an Australian bred mare.

Trained by Mauricio Delcher Sanchez, Vicious Harry made a winning debut taking out the 1000m dash by a length and a half.

Vicious Harry is the first winner from Umneeyatee, a blue blood Australian daughter of Encosta de Lago that did her racing in South Africa for her breeder Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum.

Umneeyatee was put through the 2019 Tattersalls December Mares Sale where she made just 11,000 guineas, which looks a bargain in light of her pedigree.

Umneeyatee is one of eight winners from stakes-winning Woodman  mare Moon Is Up, a daughter of champion race mare and blue hen Miesque.

Moon is Up came to Australia in 2008 when in foal to champion sire Pivotal and the result of that mating was outstanding filly Amanee, who won the Group I Thekwini Stakes in South Africa for Sheikh Mohammed Bin Khalifa Al Maktoum.

Moon is Up closed out her stud career in Australia and was retired in 2018, while her Group I winning daughter Amanee is also back in Australia after being covered by Deep Impact in her first season at stud.

The result of that mating is promising colt Elzamee, who won well at Caulfield last Saturday for the Maher and Eustace stable and holds considerable stakes potential.

A Champion 3YO Sprinter, Harry Angel returns to Darley NSW this spring at a fee of $16,500.

His first Australian yearlings this year have sold well with over 50 selling at auction with his top sellers below.
