Sebring's Dynasties Captures Gold Coast Bracelet

Mark Smith - Saturday May 7

The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained filly Dynasties was a Breednet One To Watch when she won on debut at Newcastle in May last year, but it took another five starts to register her second win, which came in Saturday's Listed Gold Coast Bracelet (1800m).

Ridden by James McDonald, the daughter of Sebring reveled in the heavy conditions, coming from well back with a sweeping run down the centre of the track.

The favourite, Gypsy Goddess (Tarzino), did her Queensland Oaks prospects no harm when coming from last to be beaten half a length in second.

Another with Queensland Oaks aspirations, Smirk (Preferment), was a length furth back in third.

"She's been a lovely filly. She's really grown into herself, and John's (Camilleri) been very patient with her," Paul Snowden said.

"Just to get that win today certainly means a lot. We had her ready to go first up. She had done a fair bit of work. We wanted to use that as a stepping board into today. I think 1550m is about the farthest she's gone, and we were going to second up to 1800m.

"When we started to lengthen her work out after she had that first run back, we really saw this horse start to pick up and thrive.

"I said to James (McDonald) we had a sticky gate, there were probably five or six horses who wanted to be where we wanted to be. I said how about we go back to being conservative.

"I know she'll be travelling and I think just let her sprint take over the last furlong and a half, and that's what happened.

"She's probably not there yet either. This run will bring her on again, and we'll go to third up 2000m. I just think the step up in trip is agreeing with her, the step-up in trip today was a guide to see if we go there in a couple of weeks, and we'll be there with bells on.

She won her maiden at Newcastle. You could have put two of her in her today. She has grown that much and filled out so much, so all credit to her."

A homebred for John Camilleri's Fairway Thoroughbreds, Dynasties is the second winner from as many to race out of the Group II VRC Kewney Stakes and Group II MVRC Moonee Valley Classic winner Empress Rock.

The daughter of Fastnet Rock is out of the city winning Encosta de Lago mare Empress Jade a half-sister to twice Hong Kong Horse Of The Year Silent Witness (El Moxie) and the Group II VRC Salinger Stakes winner Sister Madly (Redoute's Choice), who was runner-up in the Group 1 ATC Flight Stakes and Group 1 MVRC Manikato Stakes.

After missing to I Am Invincible in 2018, Empress Jade was sent to Great Britain the following year for a date with Kingman.

Dynasties is the 75th stakes winner for Widden Stud's Golden Slipper winner Sebring, who died in February 2019.
