Big Smoke Agrees With Democracy Manifest

Tara Madgwick - Monday April 18

Flying Artie had an interesting winner at Warwick Farm on Monday with talented boy from the bush Democracy Manifest winning his first start for new trainer Chris Waller.

With a win and two seconds for previous trainer Kody Nestor at country tracks, connections elected to give the three year-old his chance in the big smoke and it looks like a good decision.

Democracy Manifesto powered clear to win the 1200m Benchmark 64 event by a length and three-quarters and looks well placed to add to his record now the carnival is over.

Democracy Manifest was a $70,000 purchase by Allam Racing / Andrew Williams Bloodstock from the Network Bloodstock draft at the Inglis Ready 2 Race Sale and with two wins and two seconds from five starts is a horse on the up.

Bred by Aaron Bott and Newgate Stallions, Democracy Manifest had been passed-in short of his $25,000 reserve at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale and then sold the next month on Inglis Digital for $11,000.

He is the third winner for the Melbourne winning Benicio mare Slippery Satin, a half-sister to Group 1 WATC Railway Stakes winner Great Shot (Magnus) and multiple Listed winner Gawne (Flying Spur).

Slippery Satin was one of 202 mares covered last spring by Newgate Farm’s exciting young sire North Pacific.

Flying Artie is the sire of Democracy Manifest.

Footnote: There’s a story to the name Democracy Manifest!
