Second Winner for Red Tracer

Tara Madgwick - Monday April 18

A former stable star for Chris Waller, dual Group I winning mare Red Tracer produced her second winner on Easter Monday when three year-old I Am Invincible filly Fearnought opened her account at Warwick Farm.

Fearnought had little luck in her first preparation when she posted two thirds and two fourths, but found herself in the steward’s report on each occasion when some tardy beginnings and traffic issues failed to help her cause.

This time, James McDonald took luck out of the equation and rode her forward from an outside gate so she was always in the firing line and showed great tenacity to fight on and win the 1200m maiden by a short head.

“I thought she was beaten for sure at the hundred, but she dug deep as her mother would have,” said stable representative Charlie Duckworth.

“She’s done it tough today and got the win and it will only get easier.”

Bred and retained to race by Geoff and Mary Grimish, Fearnought was foaled and raised at Kitchwin Hills and is a half-sister to Group III placed Overlord.

She is the second winner from outstanding $2.3million earner Red Tracer, whose feature Group I wins came in the VRC Myer Classic and Tatts Tiara with five other Group I placings on her formidable record.

Red Tracer has had a quiet time at stud in recent years and has not had a foal since Fearnought, but she was covered by Zoustar last spring, so fingers crossed!
