More Stakes Success for Lombardo

Tara Madgwick - Saturday April 2

Progressive I Am Invincible gelding Lombardo claimed his second Black Type win at Morphettville on Saturday when taking out the Listed SAJC Manihi Classic (1100m).

Trained by Mick Price and Mick Kent Jr, Lombardo reeled off three successive win last spring culminating in a Listed victory at Caulfield and was then fifth in the Group I MVRC Manikato Stakes behind Jonker.

Spelled after that run, Lombardo was second up from his break in the Manihi Classic and showed his familiar brilliance to win by a length and a quarter as favourite.

A $300,000 Inglis Premier purchase for M G Price Racing & Breeding Pty Ltd / Aquis Farm from the draft of Burnewang North, Lombardo runs for a syndicate that includes his breeder Cathy Hains in whose colours he runs.

Lombardo has won seven of 13 starts earning over $380,000 in prizemoney and can no doubt enhance his record further over the upcoming Adelaide Carnival given his liking for the Morphettville track where he has won four races.

Lombardo is a half-brother to stakes-placed Resistant and is the best of seven winners from stakes-placed Encosta de Lago mare Swinging Babe, who is now retired from stud duties.

Yarraman Park's I Am Invincible is poised to make a big impact at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale net week with a stellar offering of 38 yearlings, click to see them.
