Trained by Peter Moody, Rebel’s Choice won on debut at Yarra Glen before finishing out of a place at Moonee Valley when racing against the pattern, but bounced back from that loss with an impressive win.

She raced a lot more forward for Luke Nolen from barrier one and skipped away to win the 1400m Benchmark 64 event by nearly two lengths.

“She’s a nice filly, but was quite immature so we’ve been very patient and that looks like paying off,” said stable representative Katherine Coleman.

A $280,000 Magic Millions purchase  for Cambridge Stud from the Newgate Farm draft, Rebel’s Choice was bred by Greg and Donna Kolivos of Lightning Thoroughbreds, who raced her sire Pierro.

Foaled and raised at Newgate, Rebel’s Choice is the first winner and only foal from Group III placed Redoute’s Choice mare Regatta Rebel, a grand-daughter of Champion 3YO Filly and four time Group I winner Alinghi.

Regatta Rebel died in 2020 and Rebel’s Choice is her only living foal.

Rebel’s Choice is bred on the super successful Pierro x Redoute’s Choice cross that has produced 34 winners from 46 starters including nine stakes-winners, that’s nearly 20% SW to runner!

Among those stakes-winners are Group I winners Arcadia Queen, Regal Power and Levendi.

There are two Inglis Easter yearlings bred on this most potent cross.

Lot 34 Colt Pierro x Abatha – Evergreen Stud

Lot 263 Colt Pierro x Lorna May – Yarraman Park

Half-brother to two winners from stakes-placed Lorna May, a half-sister to stakes-winner Slapstick from the family of dual Group I winner Virage de Fortune.
