Glass Harmonium's Harmony Rose Streets Them in Albury Gold Cup

Mark Smith - Friday March 25

With Group 1 placings in the Randwick Guineas and Vinery Stud Stakes, Harmony Rose needed to find that form to be a player in Friday's $200,000 Listed Albury Gold Cup, and she did just that, putting her opponents to the sword.

With Tyler Schiller in the saddle, the Mark Newnham-trained mare came with a sweeping run to take control of the race shortly after straightening. The 4yo daughter of Glass Harmonium (IRE) defeated Five Kingdom (Uncle Mo) by two and a quarter lengths, with Maurice's Medad (Maurice) a further two and a half lengths back in third.

Harmony Rose had failed to strike a blow at her previous two starts after stamping herself among the best of her age at three.

Another wonderful success story for Darby Racing, Harmony Rose advances her record to four wins, two seconds, and two thirds from 14 starts with earnings of $410,080.

Darby purchased the grey daughter of Glass Harmonium (IRE) for $25,000 from the Alexia Fraser Bloodstock draft at the 2019 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale.

She is the best of two winners from three to race out of the More Than Ready (USA) mare Gowana from the family of Golden Slipper winner Marauding.

Glass Harmonium (IRE)

Gowana has a weanling filly by Encryption and was covered by The Autumn Sun last spring.

Harmony Rose holds a nomination for the Group 1 Queen Of The Turf Stakes at Randwick on April 9.

Harmony Rose becomes the third stakes-winner for Glass Harmonium (IRE), who last stood in 2020, covering just one mare.
