Barbaric Retiring to Lyndhurst Stud

Media Release - Tuesday March 8

Impeccably bred group winning juvenile Barbaric will retire to stud at Lyndhurst Stud for the 2022 breeding season.

Barbaric retires to Lyndhurst Stud.

A stunning son of I Am Invincible out of outstanding race mare Mimi Lebrock, Barbaric retires as one of the best-bred stallions to retire to Queensland in recent years.

Barbaric raced in the famed China Horse Club silks, and on the racetrack showed he was one of the leading juveniles of his year breaking his maiden in dominant style at Randwick before winning the Group III Black Opal Stakes.

When asked about the opportunity to stand Barbaric, Lyndhurst’s Jeff Kruger said, “It didn’t take too much thought! He’s a Group winning two-year-old, a son of I Am Invincible from a multiple stakes winning Magic Millions winner. Being a $900,000 yearling, he has the looks and pedigree, and is blessed with a wonderful temperament.”

Newgate and partners will retain a significant stake in Barbaric.

Barbaric was a $900,000 Magic Millions purchase.

“I strongly believe Barbaric was the standout yearling at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale of his year,” said Newgate’s Managing Director Henry Field.

“In fact we had never paid more for a yearling since starting our colts partnership.  He was a horse with really good talent that we didn’t get to see the best of.  However, he will certainly get his opportunity at stud being managed by the Kruger family who have launched so many excellent sires in Queensland during its long history.”

Barbaric will stand at a fee of $8,800 including GST and a limited number of lifetime breeding rights are available.  For further information please contact Jeff Kruger on 0429076610 (jeff@lyndhurststud.com) or Griff Kruger on 0427010096 (griff@glyndhurststud.com)
