Tara Madgwick - Tuesday March 1

Richard and Michael Freedman are no strangers to success with the Extreme Choice breeding having won the Golden Slipper last year with Stay Inside and $1million in prizemoney with another of his Group winning sons in Tiger of Malay with their impressive debut winner by the Newgate sire on Tuesday well worth further investigation.

Three year-old filly Extreme Gem was easy in the market for the 1200m maiden following two recent trials that were unremarkable, but she was obviously saving her best for race day.

She powered home along the fence for Dylan Gibbons to win by a dominant two lengths over race favourite and stablemate Amathuba.

Extreme Gem looks a bright prospect for Dean Watt’s Dynamic Syndications, who secured the filly for just $100,000 at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale from the Lime Country Thoroughbreds draft.

Extreme Gem was a $100,000 Magic Millions purchase for Dynamic Syndications.

She was a successful pinhook having been bought by DGR Thoroughbreds as a weanling at Magic Millions National from the Newgate Consignment for $60,000.

Foaled and raised at Newgate, Extreme Gem is the first winner from winning Encosta de Lago mare Encosta Jewel, who comes from the family of dual Group I winner Super Elegant and Group winners Elegancy, Mister Elegant, Valentia and Miss Fantabulous.
