The Michael Moroney-trained filly was given a patient ride by Jamie Mott, who sat off the pace with his charge before asking her to improve at the 400m mark.

The daughter of So You Think duly responded, quickly reeling in her opposition and going away to win comfortably by 4-1/4 lengths in the 1400m contest.

Mott was impressed with So You See’s turn of foot and he believes there is a bright future instore for the filly.

“The tempo was nice. I just let her find her feet and we ended up quite a fair way off them,” Mott said.

“When I did ask her for an effort and looked up we had seven or eight (lengths) to make up, but two or three strides later I was like ‘I have got this easy’.

“She got there and wandered around late but she played with them.

“The stable were quite confident that she would go really well, but obviously they have got to come here and perform well on the night and do it all right, and she did that.

“She was super impressive and gave me a terrific feel. She is a good solid filly and I know the stable did like her and said she had shown a fair bit.

“For her to come here for the first time and put them away so easily, she is in for a very nice future.”

Westbury Stud will offer her Dundeel three-quarter brother through their New Zealand Bloodstock Book 1 Yearling Sale draft at Karaka in just over a week’s time where she will go through the ring as lot 361.

Lot 361 is a colt by Dundeel from Lady Cumquat.

So You See is out of Lady Cumquat, a Group Three-winning half-sister to triple Group One winner and New Zealand Horse of the Year Bonneval.

Westbury Stud will also offer a Dissident half-sister to the star mare at Karaka in lot 313. – NZ Racing Desk
