Yulong's Frankel Filly My Whisper Impresses at Kilmore

Mark Smith - Thursday February 24

Making her first appearance since finishing a troubled seventh on debut at Geelong last September, Yulong Stud’s Frankel filly My Whisper left six opponents without an excuse in a 3yo fillies maiden over 1200m at Kilmore on Thursday.

Ridden by Jordan Childs for Peter and Paul Snowden My Whisper came with a sustained run from back in the field to defeat the favoured Tivaci filly All She Wrote by three-quarter of a lengths with the Capitalist filly Maly Malt a further two lengths back in third.

“She has always shown a good bit of ability at home, stable representative Shiree Knowles said.

“She is a little bit of a highly strung filly but she has shown ability at the trials and in trackwork, so it was good to get the win today.

“In her first run she was a bit unlucky - he was slow out the gates and had a lot of work to do and he ran on nicely.

“She has furnished into a very nice horse. She was running on nicely and will get further – something like 1400m, but Peter and Paul know what they are doing.”

My Whisper was among five lots by Frankel that were withdrawn by Yulong from the COVID hit Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.

At Round Two of the Easter Sale, Yulong did offer four Frankels but three were passed in. They included My Whisper who fell short of her $300,000 reserve.

She is the first foal of the Poet’s Voice mare Hersigh (GB).

A Godolphin homebred, Hersigh won races on the all-weather at Chelmsford and Lingfield in an eight start career.

A half-sister to Listed stakes-winner Ennaadd (King’s Best), Hersigh is out of the stakes-winning Singspiel mare  Zayn Zed whose dam Roshani is a three-quarter sister to the champion Oh So Sharp.

Consigned to the 2017 Tattersalls August Sale,Hersigh was purchased by BBA Ireland for.£52,000..

My Whisper as a yearling

Yulong's principal Yuesheng Zhang is a huge fan of Frankel and his classic winner Hungry Heart will carry the bottle green, white checked sleeves when chasing a third Group 1 in Saturday’s Chipping Norton at Randwick.

Hersigh (GB) has a 2yo filly by Snitzel and a yearling filly by Grunt.

After missing to Grunt in 2020, Hersigh (GB) visited Lucky Vega (IRE) last spring.
