Written Tycoon's Bundle Of Fun Strikes in Tasmanian Oaks

Mark Smith - Sunday February 20

Written Tycoon filly Bundle Of Fun was luckless when third behind Miss Charlie Brown in the Listed Strutt Stakes at her most recent start, but everything went her way when turning the tables on her stablemate in Sunday’s Kevin Sharkie Tasmanian Oaks (2100m) at Launceston.

Ridden by Brendon McCoull for Adam Trinder, the Price Bloodstock colour-bearer defeated the Myboycharlie (IRE) filly Miss Charlie Brown by one and three-quarter lengths with Godolphin’s short priced Teofilo (IRE) filly Honeycreeper a half-length further back in third.

Bundle Of Fun won at Pakenham and Warrnambool in seven starts for Patrick Payne. After she finished third in the Listed Launceston Guineas behind Alpine Wolf on Australia Day, she was remained in Tasmania and was transferred to Trinder.

“It’s a great result. Patrick had her in good order, so I just had to keep her happy. There was no reinventing the wheel,” Trinder said.

“I said to the connection after she was beaten last start that the positive was she had an energy conserving run. Two 2100m runs for 3yo fillies can be quite taxing so she was the beneficiary of that run.

“When McCoull goes on Trinder trained horses they are invariably competitive.

“She is a valuable stakes-winning Written Tycoon filly and will now head to Adelaide for the SA Oaks.

“She cost good money as a yearling so she will stay on that path.”

Bundle Of Fun a $300,000 Inglis Easter Yearling

A $300,000 purchase Price Bloodstock Management Limited from the Two Bays Farm draft at the 2020 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Bundle Of Fun advances her record to three one three from nine starts with earnings of $159,575.

The daughter of Written Tycoon is a half-sister to Star Thoroughbreds’ Listed stakes-winner and Group 1 placed $1.1 million earner Kubrick (Shooting To Win) out of the Fastnet Rock mare Alcatraz.

James Bester Bloodstock purchased a brother to Bundle of Fun for $625,000 from the Silverdale Farm draft at the 2021 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Named Maximum he is to be trained by Chris Waller for Coolmore and partners.

Alcatraz is a sister too stakes-placed Rock of Fortune and a half-sister to Listed winner Chic Choice (Redoute’s Choice) from the family of Twiglet, Fairy King Prawn, Easy Rocking, Crevette and Cosmic Endeavour.

After missing in 2019 and 2020, Alcatraz was covered by Deep Field last spring.

Bundle of Fun becomes the 45th stakes winner for Yulong Stud’s reigning champion Australian stallion Written Tycoon.
