Vancouver on the Move

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday February 15

Golden Slipper winning sire Vancouver will relocate from Coolmore to Woodside Park in Victoria this spring following his purchase by Eddie Hirsch.

Vancouver is relocating to Victoria.

Vancouver is a rare commodity having won all four 2YO starts at black type level culminating in a devastating victory in the Gr1 Golden Slipper. I believe he will be ideal for the Victorian Vobis Scheme,” Woodside Park Stud owner Eddie Hirsch said.

The Group I winning son of Medaglia D’Oro (USA) is the sire of this season’s classy three year-old Overpass, who won the Group II ATC Expressway Stakes in brilliant fashion last month.

Vancouver is also the sire of Group winners Vangelic, Yaletown, Mount Pleasant  and stakes-winner Night Raid, plus US Group II winner Madone.

“I know he was Australian Champion 2YO but I believe they will keep improving as 3 and 4YO’s. The best is yet to come,” said Woodside Park Stud’s Nominations Manager Mark Dodemaide.

"Coolmore have been great to deal with in the process and we rightly believe Victoria is the best fit for Vancouver."

He will join Foxwedge (Fastnet Rock) , Tosen Stardom (Jpn) (Deep Impact) and Rich Enuff (Written Tycoon) at Woodside offering breeders a great opportunity to access the blood of champion sires at an affordable price.

A fee for Vancouver will be announced in due course.
