Stallions in Waiting Step Out at Trials

Tara Madgwick - Monday February 14

China Horse Club, Newgate and partners have some serious future sire prospects in the pipeline with none better than the Group I winning Snitzel duo Wild Ruler and In the Congo, who both went around at the Warwick Farm barrier trials on Monday morning.

Wild Ruler won the 1000m heat from a star studded field beating Group I winning mare Forbidden Love and Annabel Neasham’s dashing import Top Ranked (IRE).

Hard to miss her stable star Zaaki (GB) powering into fourth with boom Deep Impact colt Profondo tracking right in his slipstream at his first appearance since winning the Group I ATC Spring Champion Stakes.

Profondo is expected to trial again with the Group I ATC Randwick Guineas (1600m) on March 5 expected to mark his return.

The following 900m heat was won by Vangelic, who was scratched at the barrier last Saturday from the Group III ATC TRiscay Stakes following the tragic Moonshine Lady incident which unfolded right next to her.

She was given a good hit out here to win by a couple of lengths over In the Congo with Epsom Handicap winner Private Eye charging home for third.

It was the first trial back for In the Congo, who beat Anamoe to win the Group I ATC Golden Rose before an out of character failure in the Group I VRC Coolmore stud Stakes.

Both Vangelic and Wild Ruler have siblings entered for the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
