Choisir's Snapdancer Breaks the $1million Barrier with Success in Triscay Stakes

Mark Smith - Saturday February 12

Fresh of her heroics in the $1million Magic Millions Fillies and Mares race at the Gold Coast, late blooming Choisir mare Snapdancer turned a competitive looking Group III Robrick Lodge Triscay Stakes (1200m) at Randwick into a two and three-quarter lengths romp.

Ridden by James McDonald for Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Snapdancer dominated from the front.

Sporting the Spicer Thoroughbreds silks, Snapdancer defeated the Dansili import Promise Of Success (GB), with the Declaration Of War (USA) mare Electric Girl a long neck back in third.

With her first stakes success, Snapdancer advances her record to five wins, four seconds, and two thirds from 16 starts with earnings of $1,023,800.

Stable representative Jo Gerard-Dubord said the 5yo daughter of Choisir is not finished yet,

“She was always a mare we thought would get better with time and she has really improved this preparation,” Gerard-Dubord said.

“We gave her a light spring and that is being rewarded now.

“There are plenty more for her. They are a great group of owners, Brad Spicer and the team and it’s good now she is a stakes winner. That was her first stakes win, so that was great.”

Bred by Coolmore, Snapdancer was a $180,000 purchase by Spicer T'Breds/Darren Weir Racing, from the Sledmere Stud draft at the 2018 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.

Snapdancer is a half-sister to five winners headed by the dual Group III placed Drago (Danehill Dancer) who was fourth in the ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes and Champagne Stakes.

Her dam Snapdragon (IRE) was purchased by Sheamus Mills Bloodstock (FBAA) for $60,000 at the 2017 Inglis Chairman’s Sale before being on sold to The Mission Syndicate for the same amount a year later at the National Broodmare Sale.

The daughter of Galileo (IRE) died in 2020. Her final foal is a 2yo filly by The Mission.
