Miss Charlie Brown Captures Strutt Stakes

Mark Smith - Friday February 11

The Adam Trinder trained filly Miss Charlie Brown chose the right time to return to form when opening her stakes account in the Listed Strutt Stakes (2100m) at Hobart on Friday.

Given a positive ride by Troy Baker, the 3yo daughter of Myboycharlie (IRE) defeated the Wordsmith filly Ashmania by a short-neck with the winner’s better-fancied stablemate, Written Tycoon filly Bundle Of Fun, three-quarter of a length back in third.

‘It is terribly satisfying and a relief,’ Trinder said.

I was happy early preparation, but it went wrong when she ventured south in her last two runs here in Hobart

“I wasn’t happy with her performances. We elected to roll the dice and return here. I favoured returning to Launceston to get her confidence back on route to the Oaks.

“We trained her training location and shifted her to the far. With the addition of blinkers, a few things clicked.

“We were more hopeful than confident after her last two runs. We could not find anything wrong with her and were happy with the way she was training.”

Miss Charlie Brown a $62,000 Adelaide Magic Millions yearling

Bred and consigned by Bowness Stud to the 2020 Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale, Miss Charlie Brown was purchased by her trainer for $62,000.

She is the best of six winners from seven to race from the Red Ransom (USA) mare Red Fever, who Bowness had purchased for $15,000 at the 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Broodmare Sale.

Red Fever received an honourable pension in December mafter missing to D'Argento.

Her final two foals are colts by Bon Hoffa.

Miss Charlie Brown becomes the 25th black-type winner for the former shuttler, Myboycharlie (IRE).
