One to Watch – Sunshine Coast

Tara Madgwick - Sunday January 16

$575,000 Spirit of Boom colt Spiritualised was expected to make a winning debut at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday, but he came up short behind another first starter by Winning Rupert, whose colt from Songbird (Arg) was the equal session-topper at Magic Millions Book 2 on Sunday selling for $180,000.

Trained by Tom Button, Jemeldi finished off his race too well for Tiffani Brooker to score a length win over the favourite.

A $50,000 Magic Millions purchase for his trainer from the Daandine Stud draft, Jemeldi is the fifth winner from six to race from Schipper, a half-sister by Elusive Quality (USA) to Group I winner Reactive.

A brilliant sprinter by Written Tycoon, Winning Rupert had two yearlings sell on Sunday for $180,000 and $75,000 and has one more to be offered today.

Newgate Farm's Winning Rupert.

He will also have 11 to be offered at Inglis Classic.
