Flashy Debut 2YO Winner for Deep Field

Tara Madgwick - Saturday January 15

Fresh from siring his first $1million yearling at Magic Millions on Friday, Deep Field was in the frame at Rosehill on Saturday siring impressive two year-old debut winner Sweet Ride, who was too strong for a pair of $1million colts by Not a Single Doubt.

Sweet Ride is an eye-catching 2YO - image Steve Hart.

One of three runners in the race for Annabel Neasham, Sweet Ride jumped straight to the front for Jean Van Overmeire and led all the way to win by two lengths over $1million Not a Single Doubt colt Northern Beaches.

The other two Annabel Neasham runners Flashing Steel (also a $1million son of Not a Single Doubt) and Sweet Vengeance were third and fourth.

Sweet win for Sweet Ride !

Recorded as a  $320,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Widden Stud draft, Sweet Ride runs in the colours of his breeder Bert Vieira.

He is the first winner from How Sweet It Is, a four time winner by Foxwedge that was also bred and raced by Vieira and was covered by his former champion Trapeze Artist last spring.

There is some real depth to his female family which has also produced four-time Group I winner Metal Bender, New Zealand Oaks winner Amarelinha and Group winners North Pacific and Missybeel.
